Raffia comes from a variety of palm trees native to tropical Africa, belonging to the Raphia genus. Found mainly in Madagascar, this palm tree is characterised by its very long fronds. It is a coarse vegetable fibre with good resistance to tension and atmospheric agents. It is suitable for weaving and craftwork; in gardening for grafting and tying without damaging the plant; in giftware, for wedding favours and fashion accessories.
